History

Everyman Sound Company began in 1984 when Peter Theoktisto bought the sound portion of an existing company, The Light Brigade. The name is derived from the lead character and title of “The Summoning of Everyman”, a morality play written in 1490. The company began as a sole proprietorship and was incorporated in 2000. The company’s business expanded greatly with the purchase of an EAW KF850 flyable speaker system in 1990, and continues today with a new JBL Vertec VT4888 Line array, which has been used in the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Jacksonville’s Moran Theatre and Florida Theatre, as well as the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and the Stephen C. O’Connell Center at UF. We have been the leader in sound in Gainesville since our beginnngs, and even now our competitors buy used versions of what we bought new to try to compete. We are and always will be the most experienced and innovative company in town.
